If hidden mold is uncovered behind drywall or cabinetry, we pause, document the area, and review the next steps with your independent licensed mold assessor before expanding the work. The assessor’s written cleanup plan, called a remediation protocol, guides which materials are cleaned or removed. Staining alone does not tell us the mold type or how far it extends. We also consider the moisture source and access to the affected area.

How we remove mold
Protecting your home during cleanup
We isolate the affected area with protective barriers, use HEPA air filtration, and carefully clean the materials covered by your assessor’s plan. If materials need to be removed, that work follows the same written plan. The approach depends on the condition of your home and the affected materials.
How is the cleanup checked?
After cleanup, your independent assessor checks the work before the protective barriers are removed. This is called post-remediation verification (PRV). Paint or antimicrobial coatings do not replace proper cleaning and removal. A separate qualified contractor handles repairs to the leak or moisture source.
Preparing Your Property for Remediation
To ensure a smooth project in your Ormond Beach home or managed building, share your assessor's protocol and photos, leak or condensation history, attic and wall access details, repair status, and occupant scheduling needs. Avoid opening concealed wall areas just for DIY testing before containment is ready.
Do you automatically replace all affected wood?
No. Material condition, structural integrity, and the assessor's protocol guide whether wood is cleaned, detailed, or removed. Structural framing repairs are handled separately by licensed building contractors.
Is painting over staining enough?
No. Encapsulating or painting over active staining is never a substitute for scope-appropriate material removal, surface cleaning, and fixing the underlying moisture source.
What if concealed growth is found during work?
If hidden growth is uncovered behind drywall or cabinetry, we pause, document the area, and coordinate with your independent assessor before expanding the work scope.
Do you do mold testing or HVAC repairs?
Wilson’s Remediation performs mold cleanup, not independent mold testing or HVAC repairs. A licensed mold assessor handles testing and verification. Qualified repair contractors address HVAC or plumbing problems that caused the moisture.
